Magnesium: Involved with 300 chemical reactions in the body.



Magnesium Citrate: Form of magnesium found in citrus fruits. It is also found in many

supplements and is easily absorbed. Provides metabolic energy, and cardiovascular

and cognitive health. Magnesium citrate is also widely used for constipation.


Magnesium Chloride: Might be helpful for depression. Also used in bath salts.

Magnesium Glycinate: Magnesium and glycine an amino acid. Well absorbed and

tolerated. Good for people who need high doses. Used for the relaxation effects of

magnesium without the laxative effects. Calming and possibly helpful in treating

depression and helping with insomnia.


Magnesium Hydroxide: Saline laxative like Milk of Magnesia. Can also relieve

heartburn, acid indigestion and upset stomach.


Magnesium Malate: Magnesium and malic acid. Malic acid is an organic compound

found in apples. Well absorbed, gentle on stomach, less of a laxative effect. Increases

energy levels because it creates ATP in the Krebs Cycle. Treats Fibromyalgia, Chronic

Fatigue and helps athletic performance.


Magnesium L-threonate: crosses the blood brain barrier which will boost the

concentration of magnesium within the brains. Helpful in memory retention, depression

and Alzheimer’s.


Magnesium Taurate: This type of magnesium is a compound of magnesium and taurine.

Limited evidence suggests it may lower blood pressure & protect the cardiovascular
